What cultures out there practice female circumcision?

Many types of people do it. Animists, Muslims, Christians, you name it. It's a cultural practice, but it has been justified by many different religious adherents.

How prevalent is it in those cultures?

Female circumcision (also known as female genital mutilation or FGM) is prevalent in Africa, Middle East, and Asia and in immigrant populations in Europe, North America, and Australia. The following map from Wikipedia shows its prevalence in Africa.
