In the last 50 years how much has the hi-tech industry contributed annually to the GDP of the United States?

It would be really helpful to understand the impact of the hi-tech industry (i.e. software, hardware, services, consulting) on the overall US economy over the last 50 years. The % of GDP would be a very simple measure of this, but a great starting point.
