That was the typically Lucretius reply to this question, and I find it to be good enough.

No, since death is nothing, there is nothing to fear. I don’t fear sleep, either. :-)

No. Everything dies, what’s to be afraid of? It’s only when a person buys into the concept of post-humous reward and punishment that there is a reason to be afraid.
